The foundations of a fast web platform
Engineering note · PELKA STUDIO

Set a performance budget
Keep page weight reasonable, limit JavaScript and size images appropriately so speed is not treated as a late fix.
Choose appropriate rendering
Public content can often be pre-rendered. Interactions and personal data need appropriate handling. Choose according to use, not trends.
Design data access carefully
Indexes, pagination and caching should match actual queries. An incorrect cache can serve stale or confidential data to the wrong user.
Check real conditions
Small screens and limited networks reveal issues hidden on a development machine. Compare measurements with actual user scenarios.
